The global dominance will shift from West to East. In this year 2014, China is ranked by the IMF (International Monetary Fund) the first economic power in the world. The USA was the world leader in economy for over decades until the recent economic turmoil which deeply impacted the USA clout over the world. As result it is declining. According to a CIA report, USA will remain the strongest military force in the world. Are we on the edge of a new economic order?    Africa is the poorest continent in the world especially the sub-Sahara in term of standard of living. Paradoxically it is the richest continent in the world in terms of raw materials. Africa has great potentials. The human capital, the tropical weather, the bio-diversity, the cultures etc… The list cannot be exhaustive. But these can be the drive to a true development only if there is a true vision. The management of these potential requires a true Leadership. What does this means? No continent in the world has been linked to poverty as Africa. It is in fact the poorest continent in the world. Its population is about to reach a billion along with the consequences. More than a half of African population lives with less than one dollar a day. Every year thousands of people die of hunger, millions die of curable diseases. Africa is the richest continent in terms of raw materials: That is the paradox. It is clear that the wealth derived from the raw materials does not benefit the people of Africa. In 2010 many african nations will celebrate their 50th independence anniversary. That is considered as a Jubilee. After a half century of independence, poverty, development , Democracy and human rights are still major issues in most of African nations. Most of them remain the poorest nations in the world. After independences, to come from poverty and make development a reality many years have been spent applying economic policies (especially from Breton Woods Institutions), billions of dollars of aid have been spent and still poverty have not reduced significantly. Since 1993, when Togo got into the democracy process, the economic and the social conditions were affected by the political crisis that emerged from the lack of democracy and respect of human rights by the Togolese authorities. Every year when Transparency International, (an International Organization which assesses the economy of various nations in corruption) publishes its report on the level of corruption in the nations worldwide, it is noticeable that some African countries are in the top list. This is really sad. While a huge amount of money is being stolen from the public account, the population is in an absolute poverty, with no food, no shelter, and no adequate health infrastructure. It seems African leaders are more concerned with personal issues than with the needs of their people. This is a frustrating situation as we know that they are entrusted by their population to implement policies that would enhance the standard of living.
